Priorities

I believe in re-investing in River Heights-Fort Garry to keep our historic community a vibrant, safe and active place for all families.

Together, we have accomplished:

Fixing our Roads

  • More than tripling street reconstruction in the ward
  • Securing funding for the Waverley Underpass, currently under construction and opening in Fall 2019
  • Designating the Route 90 widening project as a top road project for the city and for residents dealing with the cut through traffic

Investing in Public Spaces

  • Supporting a new $1 million accessible playground on the Pan Am Pool grounds
  • Backing the new Bill and Helen Norrie Library, with ground breaking in 2019
  • Advocating for a feasibility study for the twin arena at the Grant Park Recreational Campus, including $1.7 million in preliminary city funding
  • Renewing all playgrounds in the ward to ensure our children’s safety

Protecting our Trees

  • Successfully getting more than $5 million added to the forestry budget to fight Dutch Elm Disease and Emerald Ash Borer
  • Dedicating more than $50,000 for renewing trees on boulevards, with Grant and Corydon Avenue set as priorities
  • Creating a $100,000 tree program for River Heights-Fort Garry residents who want to plant a new tree or remove an infected one

But there is more work to do.

This is why I’m asking for your vote on Oct. 24 to continue working for you by introducing and supporting policies and programs that:

  • Continue record investments into our roads
  • Ensure our neighbourhoods grow in ways that respect and benefit existing homeowners
  • Secured a feasibility study for the twin arena at the Grant Park Recreational Campus, including $1.7 million in preliminary city funding
  • Improve existing recreation facilities
  • Increase community supports to reduce the amount of vandalism occurring in the community
